There are several activities for Seniors to complete in today's 80 minute advisory.

1. Resume Update
2. Community Scholarship Applications Due Wednesday!! CLICK HERE for forms (counselors are available to help seniors with applications so as long as they are sent with a hall pass)
3. Write a Legacy Letter for our incoming freshmen
4. Grade checks/study time
5. Advisory Choice tab for games/activities

Resume Update
Have students go to LHS website and select Family Connections under the Counseling tab. The screen below will appear. Students can watch the screencast (screencast embedded below) on how to create or update their resume and access the Family Connection site as marked in red below:

Advisory Choice
  • see Advisory Choice Tab and let students help pick 1-2 lessons to accomplish Wed/Thurs
OR

Try out this 2 day lesson on "New Year's Resolutions"
  • Watch the video below and class discuss any "ah-ha" moments
  • Share past resolutions that have worked versus those that were an epic fail
  • The next advisory follow the lesson below the video



  • Day 2: Go to this website http://dreamitalive.com/ and click the button that says "Watch Video" and it will describe the purpose of vision boards
    • Sadly, DreamItAlive requires sign up with Facebook and this will be blocked for students.  HOWEVER, the video is great at detailing the purpose of vision boards.  Who knows maybe a student will be inspired enough to try it out at home.
  • Give students time to brainstorm and/or create a Vision Board using digital platforms such as  Padlet, Google Docs, Google Slides, Piktochart, Smore, Tackk, Thinglink 
  •  Start adding ideas that represent your vision:
    • images
    • quotes
    • words
    • poems
    • brief videos
  • Students may choose not to do this activity.  That's ok, don't make them.  However, if you are seated with them and creating your own vision board they may just become intrigued enough to try one of their own.

  • Project the table of hyperlinks below and let students pick what links for you (the advisor) to show to the class
  • As you read or watch the videos:
    • what kinds of ah-ha moments occurred for you?
    • what kinds of questions surfaced for you?
    • did you learn anything you didn't already know?
    • did you gain any new perspectives?
  • Have you read or seen anything lately related to life after graduation? If so share it with your advisory teacher so it can later be added to the list of topics below.

  • After the video, circle up with students to discuss the following questions and any other thoughts/concerns/ideas as a result of the assemble

Graduate For Más Challenge

Round #1: October 3 - December 16th

3) Call students up inidividually to review their grades (Grade Checks...Mrs. Hermann & Mrs. Wiederholt will deliver a spreadsheet of your advisory students' grades)

Taco Bell Challenge: Make the Promise to graduate and use our games and tools to help you reach your graduation, college and career goals.

We even have some great prizes - 

$500 for every school that gets 30% of students to complete the Attendance Badge,

$1,000 for the regional winners, or 

$5,000 and a celebration event with a celebrity for the national winning school!



  1. Advisory students will follow this link, click on “Make the Promise” icon to fill out the promise to graduate and enroll in the program
  3. Students that “Make the Promise” will automatically be enrolled in the program and receive access to a variety of content: College Knowledge, Future Focus, Life Skills, Make the Grade, Money Talks, and more.
  4. What’s next? Encourage the students to watch the videos, play the games, take the surveys, and attempt the challenges on their dashboard. The more activities they complete, the higher we go on the leaderboards to possible win prizes and money.
    1. School Prizes:
      1. Unlock The Box Challenge: 30% of LHS Students must complete the "Attendance Badge" in order for us to win $500
    2. Individual Prizes:
      1. Collect 10 Badges & Win a T-Shirt!
      2. Points can earn you prizes in the Rewards Store!
      3. Teachers! You can win prizes in the Rewards store too! (Starbucks gift cards are available once you create an account and explore as many activities as possible).
